Auckland Radiation Oncology expands to Auckland’s North Shore
Auckland Radiation Oncology (ARO) is set to expand to Auckland’s North Shore, enabling many patients to receive much needed cancer care closer to home, ensuring convenience and accessibility during their cancer journey. With the growing need for cancer services of an expanding Auckland population, and increased patient demand for the advanced technology available at ARO, this development is coming at a critical point in time.
The new North Shore facility based in Albany is planned to open in early 2025. Planning and design are well underway for the facility, which will be equipped with two treatment rooms (bunkers), specialist consultation rooms, and additional spaces for complementary health services.
With a reputation for being at the forefront of radiation therapy cancer treatment, ARO offers patients a choice of leading-edge radiation therapy aimed directly at improving cancer treatment outcomes and quality of life.
ARO was established in 2008 as the first private radiation therapy treatment centre in New Zealand.
ARO is a joint venture, owned and operated by MercyAscot and Southern Cross Healthcare. The radiation therapy treatment centre treats 70-100 patients daily, offering state-of-the-art radiation therapy aimed at improving cancer treatment outcomes and quality of life of their patients.
