Pink October – Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in support of Pink October we want to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and regular mammograms in the fight against breast cancer.
One in nine women will develop breast cancer at some time in their life and nine New Zealand women, on average, will hear the news today that they have breast cancer*.
MercyAscot’s pledge to our people
As a healthcare provider, the fight against breast cancer is very dear to our hearts. To support our staff’s well-being, we are encouraging all staff with a family history of breast cancer or aged over 45 to visit their healthcare provider for a mammogram if they haven’t had a breast screen in the past 12 months. Our staff are able to take up to two hours paid time to visit their healthcare provider for a mammogram or prostate check.
