12 May 2022
May 12 is International Nurses Day 2022
We want to acknowledge the incredible work of our nurses, clinical teams and support teams who deliver care and support to thousands of patients and their families every year.
This year we particularly want to acknowledge the challenges our teams have faced due to the impacts of COVID-19.
Our people have continued to put the patient at the center, providing much needed care while adapting their ways of working to help keep everyone safe.
It has been hard and emotionally challenging work, and we are proud of all of our people for keeping our hospitals running through a very difficult time.
Saying thank you
For the whole month of May, every patient will get the opportunity to say thank you to their nurse and care team.
We have created business size ‘thank you’ cards which patients can use to leave a hand written message of support. These will be available in patient rooms and from Charge Managers.
In early June we will collect up all of the cards and present them back to our teams as a token of our appreciation for their hard mahi.
Please also feel free to personally thank our teams if you are coming into our hospitals on International Nurses Day or at any time throughout the month of May. It will be very much appreciated.
Ngā mihi nui,
Dr Ian England – Chief Executive
Maree Cassidy – Chief Operating Officer & Chief Nurse
